Drying, Shrinkage and Moisture Movement
This unit for recommendations made to the standards ASTM and BS EN designed and built. Where needed laboratory tests on samples or on samples taken from existing structures is done. The aim of the experiment is to measure changes in a concrete or cement mortar sample alters its moisture content.
Terms:
- Drying shrinkage of the primary:The difference between the lengths of a molded sample of fresh concrete, with the length of the same dry sample.
- Shrinkage due to drying:The difference between the length of an adult specimen cut from the concrete and saturated with the sample in dry condition.
- Movement of moisture content:The difference between the fixed length of the sample after it has been saturated with water.
