Sand Equivalent Value
Testing the sand ( or sand equivalent, S.E. ) to determine the quality of aggregate used in road construction, concrete, asphalt and drainage layer, and it can be considered as supplement of Grading Test and practically to determine the total volume of sand to the soil ( sand, silt and clay ) and determining the water absorption of aggregate and inflation the result of this test is to determine the percentage of clay in the sand. For example, sand particles of concrete shouldn’t be rejected throughout sieve 200, these particles are the result of stickiness cement do not stick to aggregate. An experimental method for determining soil in is, put the sand in a glass of water to measure the amount of infected flowers.
Whatever washed and cleaning of the sand depend on the higher rate of the amount of S.E.
